Amy Palmiero-Winters to Compete in the Badwater 135 mile Ultramarathon

Amy Palmiero-Winters was recently selected to compete in the 2010 Badwater Ultramarathon. Amy will be the first female amputee to run in the Badwater Ultramarathon which is recognized globally as "the world's toughest foot race," this legendary event pits up to 90 of the world's toughest athletes—runners, triathletes, adventure racers, and mountaineers—against one another and the elements. Covering 135 miles (217km) traversing over 3 mountain passes this non-stop race from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA has temperatures up to 130F (55c) and ground temperatures reaching close to 200 degrees, it is the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet.
